Stewards for Affordable Housing for The Future Names Skyline Innovations Development Partner

LOS ANGELES, CA -  Skyline Innovations, a leading developer and financier of commercial-scale solar energy systems, has partnered with Stewards of Affordable Housing for the Future (SAHF) as a solar financier and project developer for its members. SAHF is comprised of eleven social enterprise nonprofits, whose members provide high quality and affordable multifamily homes for low-income families, seniors, and individuals with disabilities

This partnership supports SAHF's efforts under its Big Reach initiative to reduce energy and water consumption and their recognition as inaugural partners in the expansion of the Better Buildings Challenge to multifamily housing in December 2013.  Through this partnership, Skyline will finance, develop, operate, and maintain solar electric (PV) and solar water heating systems for SAHF member properties. To date, Skyline has completed 40 kW of PV for SAHF member Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH) in Washington, DC, and has 795 kW of PV systems for SAHF members under review by the California Solar Initiative Multifamily Affordable Solar Housing (MASH) program.

"By working with partners like Skyline, we are able to bring energy conservation and renewable energy solutions that satisfy the needs of our members," said Rick Samson, President of SAHF's Energy Division. "Financing models like Skyline's help preserve the quality and affordability of housing, while helping us achieve the vision of our Big Reach program."

As part of President Obama's announcement of commitments and Executive Actions to advance solar deployment and energy efficiency, SAHF and its eleven members have agreed to reduce energy and water consumption by 20 percent by 2020.  In addition to this goal, and with the help of Skyline, SAHF's efforts have the potential of deploying 500,000 therms of solar water heating and 4 megawatts of solar PV.

Founded in 2009, Skyline has financed and developed – and currently operates under long term energy services agreements – over 150 solar energy systems, and has become one of the largest developers and financiers of commercial-scale solar water heating systems in the United States.
