NEW YORK, NY - Latch, creators of the first smart lock system for entire apartment buildings, announced today that it is partnering with Related Companies, East End Capital and Integra Investments to bring modern convenience -- and keyless -- living to thousands of residents in South Florida. Latch is being installed at Integra’s Hallandale ArtSquare property, which is leasing now and set to open in the Fall, as well as Related and East End’s 25 Wynwood, set to open next year. Latch also announced in February that it is partnering with South Florida-based Newgard Development Group and its homesharing brand Niido, powered by Airbnb, to install its smart lock system throughout Niido’s properties, beginning with a 324-unit building in Kissimmee, Florida.
Latch’s smart lock system lets residents use their smartphone to unlock doors throughout their building, including at the main entrance, their apartment unit, gym, rooftop, and other amenity spaces. Users can also grant temporary access to guests and service providers, like dog walkers and cleaners, through time-limited access codes. An embedded wide-angle camera within each lock captures a visual record of every interaction by a non-resident. These images are viewable by residents from the Latch app, giving residents peace of mind and added security when they are away from home. And through Latch’s national delivery partners, residents’ packages are automatically delivered safely inside their building.
“We’re honored to work alongside Related, East End, and Integra to make its residents among the first in South Florida to experience the future of modern convenience living,” said Ali Hussain, Latch’s Chief Operating Officer. “There is incredible consumer demand for smart home products right now, and our partners are leading the way to make sure their residents can have these convenience experiences in an apartment setting.”
Integra’s Hallandale ArtSquare is now leasing. The first phase of the project is open, and the entire community will be complete in Fall 2018. Managed by RKW Residential, the property includes 358 apartment units, over 12,500 square feet of retail space, and a slate of amenities, including a fitness center, resort-style pool, a children’s room, and a theater. Latch will be installed throughout the property as an additional amenity.
“Integra Investments is thrilled to partner with Latch to implement technological advances in multifamily housing,” said Eduardo Otaola, Vice President at Integra Realty. “Latch makes life for our residents easier, safer and more convenient. It also makes ArtSquare an even more appealing community in the marketplace.”
Related and East End’s 25 Wynwood -- which will include 289 rental apartments, about 31,000 square feet of retail space and 340 parking spaces -- is now under construction and set to open in 2019. The entire property will include Latch, including its many amenity spaces, such as a gym, yoga studio, workspace, coffee lounge, courtyard, bike and package storage, dog wash facility, and rooftop with a pool, grill, and movie screen.
“Through our partnership with Latch we can provide a truly seamless and automated access system for Wynwood 25 tenants, while also providing them peace of mind. It is a great addition to the highly-amenitized and contemporary living our project offers residents,” said Jonathon Yormak, founder and managing principal of East End Capital.
