ARLINGTON, Va. / June 21, 2010 – In honor of National Apartment Careers Month, February 2011, the National Apartment Association Education Institute (NAAEI) today announced a call for submissions for its "Get Reel" Career Challenge, a new YouTube video contest for apartment industry professionals.
The video contest asks anyone working in the apartment industry, in the three career paths of maintenance, leasing and management, to showcase, "A Day in Your Life in Property Management".
"The apartment industry employs hundreds of thousands of people who love their jobs and enjoy going that extra mile to provide quality housing for their residents to enjoy. What better way is there to promote apartment careers than to ask real apartment employees to share their enthusiasm and success stories?" said Bill Wollinger, SHCM, CAPS, President of Winn Residential and the Chair of NAAEI's Apartment Careers Committee.
Winners of the contest will receive airfare, hotel accommodations and conference registration to the 2011 NAA Conference and Exposition, scheduled for June 23-25, in Las Vegas.
NAAEI's President, Jeff Lowry, CAPS explained, "NAAEI will use these testimonial videos as part of its ongoing communications with high school, career and technical school and college students. NAAEI has partnered with organizations such as DECA, Job Corps, SkillsUSA, Jobs for America's Graduates and community and technical colleges to promote apartment careers and to create new pipelines of talent."
National Apartment Careers Month was instituted in 2010 to create awareness of and to promote the attractive and recession-resistant careers in the apartment industry.
In preparation for this event, NAAEI has developed several career guide tools for hiring managers, apartment management companies and NAA affiliated associations. To download the career guides and the Participant Toolkit, go to www.naahq.org/education/naaei/campaigns.
