Sessions on Two More of Today's Critical Issues Added to 2010 NAA Education Conference & Exposition Lineup
June 2, 2010—Cut through the hype and rumor-based information being circulated about the EPA's Lead-Based Paint Remediation and proposed Carried Interest Legislation and the high-dollar impact each will have on the apartment industry and learn from subject matter experts by attending two new sessions that have been added to the lineup for the 2010 NAA Education Conference & Exposition, held June 24-26 in New Orleans.
The National Apartment Association (NAA) has added "EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule: Rehabbing the Way We Work on Pre-1978 Housing" and "Legal Carried Interest Legislation – An Update on the State-of-Play."
Both will be presented Saturday, June 26, at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans as part of the lineup of more than 40 education sessions. The EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule went into effect on April 22, 2010, and it regulates repairs performed around lead-based paint. Not being a Certified Renovator or Certified Firm and ignoring the rule adds up to $37,500 per violation, per day in fines that could be avoided with the appropriate training for your staff. These new rules change the way everyone works on multifamily housing properties built prior to 1978. See how these new regulations affect your operations and bottom line. Also Saturday, "Legal Carried Interest Legislation – An Update on the State-of-Play," will be presented by NAA's Vice President of Government Affairs Greg Brown. Changing the taxation of a "carried interest" is an issue that dramatically impacts owners and developers of apartments. Congress has wrestled with this question for several years, but recently the debate reached critical mass. Attendees will hear the latest updates on carried Interest legislation as well as the outlook for the future. Brown will provide an overview of the issue, potential impacts on your business, a history of efforts to pass legislation and the most recent developments. There will be ample time for Q&A.
