2010 NAAEI ACE Awards Announced

Warshaw, Chasick Honored with National Apartment Career, Education Award

ARLINGTON, Va. /May 27, 2010/ The National Apartment Association Education Institute (NAAEI) is pleased to announce that Jerry Warshaw, CAPS, CPM and Douglas Chasick, RAM, CAPS, CPM, have both been awarded the 2010 Apartment Career and Education (ACE) Award. Mr. Warshaw and Mr. Chasick will be recognized on Friday, June 25 at the General Session of the 2010 NAA Education Conference and Exposition held at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside & Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

"This year's ACE Awardees are prime role models for any apartment industry educator," said Jeffery F. Lowry, CAPS and NAAEI President. "Jerry and Doug have dedicated their careers to the improvement of apartment industry education and promotion of apartment careers among high school and college students. With more than 65 years of industry experience between them, it is clear why we chose to honor these gentlemen with our highest award for apartment educators."

Mr. Warshaw, who won the ACE Award as a volunteer leader, is the President of Warshaw Properties in Atlanta and Chairman and President of the Georgia Apartment Industry Education Foundation, a private, non-profit organization that promotes career opportunities within the apartment industry. Warshaw has previously served as president of the Atlanta Apartment Association and the National Apartment Association. He has been bestowed induction in the Georgia Apartment Association Hall of Fame. Most recently, Warshaw was the keynote speaker at the "Innovation in Education" conference throughout the state of Georgia. In his tireless efforts, Warshaw has given more than 150 presentations to promote apartment careers and education.

Mr. Chasick is Senior Vice President, Multifamily Professional Services at CallSource, a full service multifamily solutions company. Chasick is receiving the ACE Award as a professional educator; he is a nationwide industry educator and subject matter expert. Chasick is also a member of the NAAEI Faculty and is the lead facilitator for NAAEI's train-the-trainer program, Advanced Instructor Training. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Chasick has also served on the NAA Board of Directors and most recently served on the NAA Education Institute Board of Directors.

Both Warshaw and Chasick hold the NAA Education Institute's Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS) designation and the Institute of Real Estate Management's Certified Property Manager designation. Mr. Chasick also holds the National Association of Home Builder's (NAHB) Registered in Apartment Management (RAM) designation.

The NAAEI Apartment Career and Education Awards recognize outstanding achievement in the field of apartment career development and/or contributions made to, or on behalf of NAAEI and its professional education interests and initiatives. The ACE Awards are given annually and are awarded to both volunteer leaders and professional educators.
