CINCINNATI, OH - The Salvation Army’s Catherine Booth Residence affordable senior apartments in North College Hill, Ohio, has received ENERGY STAR for Homes v3 certification. Sol design + consulting, Cincinnati, provided energy performance services for the two-building, 96-unit project, designed by ATA Beilharz Architects of Cincinnati.
ENERGY STAR for Homes v3 sets very stringent standards for envelope performance, minimization of air infiltration, duct sealing, water conservation and HVAC system design, installation and testing. ENERGY STAR v3 certification verifies exceptional home energy performance.
Notable green building features that contribute to the development’s ENERGY STAR for Homes certification:
- High efficiency vertical packaged terminal AC/heat pump systems
- Enhanced wall and roof insulation
- High-performance windows
- Reflective “cool roof”
- ENERGY STAR rated refrigerators, lighting and exhaust fans
The new Catherine Booth Residence helps fulfill The Salvation Army’s mission to “do the most good” by offering a safe and comfortable environment for low income seniors, with a host of support services, including transportation, health, life enrichment and spiritual services. Response from the served community has been overwhelmingly positive, and the Catherine Booth Residence is already at 100% occupancy.
The Residence is named for Catherine Booth (1829-1890), wife of The Salvation Army founder William Booth, and regarded herself as a cofounder of the worldwide charitable organization.
