May 6, 2010—The National Apartment Association (NAA) is pleased to announce the 2010 PARAGON award winners. The annual awards program recognizes the multifamily housing industry's top communities, executives, employees and affiliate programs.
The awards will be presented during the 2010 NAA Education Conference & Exposition, June 24-26, in New Orleans. The NAA PARAGON Awards recognition also will include the announcement of the NAA Community of the Year during the Opening General Session on Thursday, June 24. The winner will be chosen among the communities that won category-specific PARAGON Awards listed below.
NAA Individual Awards
Utah Apartment Association Executive Paul Smith was named Association Executive of the Year. Travis Garden Apartments Owner Nicole Graffis was named Independent Rental Owner (IRO) of the Year (100 units or less). Claye Properties Owner Scott Tenney was named Independent Rental Owner of the Year (101-500 units). Judy Bellack, Vice President of Operations for Apartment Finder, received the National Suppliers Council (NSC) Achievement Award.
NAAEI Individual Achievement Awards
Gaylynne Isbell (CAM, CAMT, CAPS) of Capstone Real Estate Services Inc. was named Professional Designate of the Year. Doris Granger (CAM) of UDR was named Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) of the Year. Jeremy Allen Lawson (NALP) of Fogelman Management Group was named National Apartment Leasing Professional (NALP) of the Year. Howard Goraj (CAMT) of The Brody Company was named Certified Maintenance Technician (CAMT) of the Year.
Affiliated Association Awards
The Columbus (Ohio) Apartment Association received the Communications Award. The Delaware Apartment Association received the Community Service Award. The Detroit Metropolitan Apartment Association received the Education Award. The Arizona Multihousing Association received the Government Affairs Award.
Builders, Owners and Developers Awards
Best Community, Less than 5 Years (under 150 units) was awarded to Glenview House, Lincoln Property Company. Best Community, Less than 5 Years (over 150 units) was awarded to The Metropolitan at Pentagon City, Kettler Management. Best Community, 5-20 Years (over 150 units) was awarded to Arena Crossing, Village Green. Best Community, 20+ Years (under 150 units) was awarded to The Harness Factory Lofts, Buckingham Management. Best Community, 20+ Years (over 150 units) was awarded to Country Club Towers I & II, The Kamson Corporation. Best Community, Green Housing was awarded to Gables Midtown, Gables Residential. Best Community, Specialty Housing – Student Housing was awarded to The Lex, Buckingham Management.
NAA President Douglas Culkin, CAE, said, "The PARAGON awards recognizes the outstanding contributions of multifamily builders, professionals and affiliated associations. By shining a light on these winning individuals, communities and organizations, all members of our industry benefit."
