Apartment social search engine RentWiki.com says it has secured a multi-million dollar financing round from Antares Capital. Prior funding investments were from internal and strategic investors "including major REITs."
RentWiki is powered by recommendations and local content provided by other renters.Through reviews, pros and cons, neighborhood wikis and local Twitter conversations, RentWiki gives renters an idea of what it is like to live in a neighborhood before they move in. Through RentWiki, renters can research neighborhoods and rental properties, network with other renters who live in the area, and contact apartment owners.
It has proven to be a great market. The company competes with the Apartments.com giant as well as ApartmentGuide.com and Rentals.com but with a twist; RentWiki's critique of current offerings is that current rental sites only have info provided by property owners.
With the new launch, the site looks great, still building reviews. Take a spin...go visit your 'hood on http://www.RentWiki.com and post your comments about your fave things about the neighborhood you call home. Or your home away from home.

RentWiki.com first launched the site in 2009 with neighborhood content in four major cities. Today, RentWiki is nationwide and has user- generated neighborhood content in more than 1,300 neighborhoods and cities. RentWiki's goal is to provide the renter with comprehensive information on potential neighborhoods and apartment rentals. The site does this via advice provided by other renters and property management experts, and through integrating relevant content from other sites including Walkscore, Twitter, and Eventful.
