BOSTON, MA - The Kensington, a 27-story, 381-unit apartment tower located at 665 Washington Street in Boston, MA, ended 2014 and kicked off 2015 in the giving spirit by continuing its support of community organizations through numerous on and offsite charitable events. Through volunteer opportunities with local groups including the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families Foundation (DCF Foundation), the Greater Boston Food Bank, Saint Francis House, and The Blackstone Innovation School, The Kensington raised over $900.00 for classroom supplies, donated over 50 bags of clothing, sold artwork on behalf of the Saint Francis Art Therapy program, packed over 2000 pounds of food, and participated in a Charles River clean up along the Esplanade as part of an annual Earth Day Event.
“At The Kensington, cultivating an environment of engagement and community is a high priority, not only for our residents, but also our neighbors,” commented Drew Boujoulian, Resident Services Manager at The Kensington. “We love finding ways for our staff and residents to get involved in the community. We are thrilled with the amount of charitable participation throughout 2014, and look forward to continuing this involvement into 2015 and beyond.”
Through a program with the DCF Foundation, participating Kensington residents and staff were given the opportunity to sponsor a child and contribute items towards their Holiday Wish List. Each of these children were provided with gifts that were purchased and donated by program participants.
Adding to the 2014 community involvement, representatives from The Blackstone Innovation School Multiple Disabilities Program were invited to enjoy some cheer and sell Holiday crafts made by their students. The event raised over $900.00 for classroom supplies and a field-trip in the Spring semester.
The Kensington continued its strong relationship with the nearby Saint Francis House, the largest day-shelter for homeless men and women in New England. Residents and staff of The Kensington had the pleasure of serving hot Thanksgiving meals to House guests. Additionally, The Kensington hosted a Holiday Party, featuring artwork created through the Saint Francis House Art Therapy Program. Multiple pieces were on display and for sale, with all proceeds going back to the respective artists. This relationship will be further strengthened in 2015 as the Saint Francis House has dubbed March as “Kensington Month”, with numerous opportunities to engage residents at the community.
Boasting a premier amenity package, residents of The Kensington enjoy over 28,000 square-feet of free amenity space including a state-of-the-art fitness center and yoga studio, business center and coffee bar, game room complete will billiards tables, multiple meeting rooms, an outdoor pool, pet spa equipped with professional doggie baths, a solarium, and a quiet E-Lounge to kick back and escape the hectic pace of everyday life.
