Alkis Klimathianos Joins Goldstein, Hill & West Architects as Senior Associate

NEW YORK, NY - Goldstein, Hill & West Architects (GHWA), a New York City-based architecture firm responsible for more than 35,000 residential units in over 100 buildings throughout Manhattan, announces that Alkis Klimathianos has joined the firm as a senior associate in its design department, and will lend his 15 years of experience in the design of residential towers and hotels to provide a sharp vision and direction to the GHWA design team.

“The international hospitality and residential experience that Alkis brings to the design team is a tremendous asset for the future of the firm,” said L. Stephen Hill, a partner and co-founder of GHWA. “His portfolio boasts a variety of project types, such as hotels, residences, mixed-use projects, and urban planning for the Olympic Games. Alkis’ direction can help our design team take on new challenges for a changing urban landscape.”

Klimathianos was previously a senior associate principal in design and management at Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates in New York City. There, he was involved in developing design concepts for several important residential and hospitality projects both at home at abroad, including a residential tower in San Diego, Calif. and another residential property just below Madison Square Park in Manhattan, 41 East 22nd Street. He also worked on the Yongsan International Business District Hotel and Residences in Seoul, Korea and the Audrey Hotel and Residences in Frankfurt, Germany.

Additionally, Klimathianos spent time in the United Arab Emirates as a senior designer for FX Fowle International, where he was responsible for the design concepts of two mixed-use buildings at the King Abdullah Financial Center in Riyadh.

Born the U.S. and raised in Greece, Klimathianos has a special tie to the first Summer Olympic Games, held in Athens in 1896. His career in architecture led him to participate in the competition to design the Athens Olympic Village for the 2004 Athens games, and to provide his expertise as a lecturer at the Center for Architecture on Urban Planning for the Olympic Games. Klimathianos holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the Pratt Institute School of Architecture, and a master’s degree in architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, Graduate School of Fine Arts.
