Plummer Earns Presitigious CPM Designation

Marlton, NJ, June 3, 2009—Michaels Military Housing Vice President Heather Plummer has earned the prestigious designation of Certified Property Manager (CPM), the Michaels Organization announced today. Plummer, who has been with the Michaels Organization since 2002, leads the community management efforts for Michaels Military Housing's growing portfolio in Arizona, Kansas, Florida, and Maryland.

"Heather epitomizes the professionalism, dedication and commitment to excellence that Michaels Military Housing strives for everyday in serving the military personnel and their families who live on the installations where we manage housing," said Ron Hansen, Michaels Military Housing's senior vice president. "We are proud of her achievement and congratulate her on reaching this career milestone."

Considered the mark of distinction among property management professionals, the CPM designation is awarded by the Institute of Real Estate Management. To earn the designation, property managers must have a minimum of five years of full-time decision-making activity in real estate management, take numerous educational courses, and pass a rigorous exam. In addition, CPMs must agree to continuous education to keep their certifications current and abide by the highest standards of professional ethics.

With more than 15 years experience in the property management field, Plummer has continually excelled as she has taken on significantly increasing responsibilities within the Michaels Organization, whose affiliated companies include Michaels Military Housing as well as Interstate Realty Management. When first joining the Michaels Organization, Plummer was responsible for the daily operation of 12 Interstate Realty Management communities in four states. She also acted as liaison on behalf of Interstate Realty Management between the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) offices and state housing agencies, preparing annual budgets and capital improvements and ensuring compliance with all HUD on-site regulations.

In July 2006, Plummer was handpicked to lead community management operations at Fort Leavenworth Frontier Heritage Communities, where Michaels Military Housing is constructing new family housing and managing more than 1,500 homes under a privatization initiative of the U.S. Department of Defense. Promoted to vice president in 2008, Plummer now oversees management operations for Michaels' entire Military Housing portfolio, which includes family housing at the Air Force's MacDill and Andrews bases, and the U.S. Army's post at Fort Leavenworth, Fort Huachuca and the Yuma Proving Ground.

In addition to the CPM certification, Plummer also holds designations as a Certified Occupancy Specialist, Certified Tax Credit Compliance Manager, Certified Apartment Manager, and National Apartment Leasing Professional.
