WEST PALM BEACH, FL - Woodfield Development, one of the nation’s leading developers of Class A multifamily communities, and Flagler Realty & Development Inc., announced continued progress on construction at The Sound Apartments, a mixed-use residential community underway at 8111 S. Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach.
Construction is nearing completion with delivery targeted for September. Initial move-ins are anticipated in the third quarter of 2026, with full completion expected later this year.
The eight-story community will deliver 358 apartment residences, including 90 workforce housing units priced for households earning at or below the designated area median income thresholds. The project also includes 19,000 square feet of outparcel retail, highlighted by a recently announced lease with Trader Joe’s, which will occupy 15,000 square feet of the commercial space. There is an additional 4,000 square feet of divisible retail space, allowing for one large tenant or two 2,000 square feet units.
“This project reflects our continued investment in West Palm Beach and our confidence in the South End’s long-term growth,” said Ross Abramson, partner at Woodfield Development. “Construction is progressing steadily, and the addition of Trader Joe’s underscores the strength of the location and the demand for thoughtfully planned, mixed-use communities.”
Located in West Palm Beach’s South End neighborhood, The Sound Apartments will offer a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom residences ranging from approximately 500 to 1,388 square feet. Homes will feature views of The Intracoastal, The Park golf course, downtown West Palm Beach, and Palm Beach.
Community amenities will include a coworking lounge, indoor pickleball courts, a resort-style pool, a top-level sky lounge, and a landscaped waterfront walkway with a dock and a kayak or canoe launch along the canal.
“We are thrilled to formally announce Trader Joe’s at this location. We are confident that this will be an exciting addition to the surrounding community,” said Patrick Koenig, co-founder of Flagler Realty & Development. “The Sound Apartments brings together new housing, affordability, and neighborhood-serving retail in a way that supports the continued evolution of the South End.”
Woodfield Development established its Florida presence in 2020 with the completion of Oversea at Flagler Banyan Square in West Palm Beach. Since then, the firm has expanded its footprint across the state, commencing or completing construction on more than 3,000 residential units, representing over $1 billion in development over the past five years.
The project team includes Spina O’Rourke + Partners as architect of record and interior designer, with Verdex Construction serving as general contractor.
