Albion Residential Closes on Financing for 30-Story Luxury Residential Tower Consisting of 305 Apartment Homes in St. Louis Market

OAK BROOK, IL - Albion Residential, a Chicago-based firm specializing in the acquisition and development of luxury rental apartments, has officially closed on its construction loan for Albion West End, the company’s first development in the St. Louis market. Financed by Pacific Life Insurance Company, the loan enables construction to begin immediately on the 30-story luxury residential tower, with completion expected in Spring 2027.

Albion Residential has partnered with leading design-build firm Clayco as the project’s general contractor. The tower is being designed by Lamar Johnson Collaborative (LJC), an award-winning architecture and design firm known for delivering innovative, community-centered urban spaces.

Located in the heart of St. Louis’ West End neighborhood, the development will deliver 305 luxury apartment homes and 1,700 square feet of ground-floor retail space. The project represents a significant investment in the city and is a partnership between Albion and Koplar Properties, a local development firm with deep roots in St. Louis.

A formal groundbreaking ceremony is planned for September 2025, though site work will begin immediately.

City leaders are celebrating the impact of the project on the West End neighborhood and greater St. Louis:

This project turns a parking lot into 300 apartments in one of our city's most in-demand neighborhoods, enabling more people to live in St. Louis and be part of the exciting urban lifestyle that we have on offer," said Mayor Cara Spencer. “It's a bright day in St. Louis when we can turn a vacant lot into a beautiful tower that will provide more housing and a sign of progress for our city. This tower will benefit everyone in the city, reaffirming that this is a great place to live,” added Alderman Michael Browning (Ward 09), who represents the West End neighborhood.

Albion West End is part of Albion’s continued expansion into high-potential urban markets across the Midwest. The tower will feature a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, along with thoughtfully designed amenity spaces, premium interior finishes, and sweeping views of the St. Louis skyline.
