Habitat Names Wendy Deetjen Vice President of The Firm's National Market-Rate Apartment Portfolio Across Multiple Metro Markets

CHICAGO, IL - Chicago-based Habitat, a leading U.S. multifamily developer and property manager, today announced Wendy Deetjen has been promoted to vice president of the firm’s national market-rate portfolio. Deetjen joined Habitat as a regional manager in November 2017 and most recently served as senior regional manager.

“Hard work pays off, and we’re proud to promote from within as we fill a leadership position that will be instrumental in supporting our continued national expansion,” said Sheila Bryne, executive vice president of property management at Habitat. “During her time with Habitat, Wendy has helped implement new processes and technologies that allowed us to navigate one of the most disruptive times in our industry while inspiring property-level teams to deliver the people-first service that remains the hallmark of our management platform.”

Leveraging nearly 35 years of experience in multifamily property management, Deetjen will oversee Habitat’s portfolio of market-rate communities across the Chicago, Detroit and Minneapolis metros, together comprising more than 4,500 units. In this capacity, she will lead a team of 180 management professionals in driving operational performance while delivering exceptional resident service.

Prior to joining Habitat, Deetjen was area vice president for The Laramar Group, where she helped grow the company’s value-add investments while managing multifamily properties in Chicago and Minneapolis. Deetjen also served as regional manager for Lincoln Property Company, where she oversaw the company’s expanding high-rise portfolio throughout downtown Chicago.  

Deetjen holds a bachelor’s degree in communication management from the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio.
