NRP Group Begins Constructing Stylish Student Housing at Hiram College
Cleveland, OH (April 16, 2009)—The NRP Group announced it has started construction of 104 student beds in townhome style units at Hiram College, Hiram, OH. Founded in 1850, Hiram College has ranked among the country's most prestigious liberal arts institutions. Because of increased enrollment, the college has been in the process of expanding various facilities. The new student housing will include 4 single bedrooms per unit, two baths, a living room, kitchen and laundry facilities. The buildings will house 104 students and are located on campus adjacent to a new dining facility along with assigned on-site parking.
"NRP is venturing into a natural progression of development that fits nicely into our area of multi-family expertise," said J. David Heller, Principal. "Our team is thrilled to be part of the Hiram College expansion. Students will experience independent living while still conforming to the campus culture along with having a stylish student environment."
"We are pleased to partner with The NRP Group, Campus Communities Developers and Braun & Steidl Architects to offer a new housing opportunity to our students," says Thomas B. Chema, president of Hiram College. "These new residences are not your mothers' and fathers' dorms, but fresh modern apartment style living. This project gives our students a new opportunity to participate in our learning community. We are very excited about this improvement to our campus."
The new townhomes will meet Energy Star green building criteria. Included in the construction will be low flow fixtures, a recycling center for trash, Energy Star appliances, as well as many other green build components. The Energy Star certification demonstrates the building is environmentally responsible and a healthy place to live.
The NRP Group is co-developing the project with Campus Communities LLC. Architectural work was completed by Braun & Steidl Architects, Akron, Ohio.
