MVE + Partners Celebrates Completion of 271-Unit Mixed-Use Urban Living Community in Downtown Long Beach, California

LONG BEACH, CA – MVE + Partners (MVE), a leading architecture, planning, interiors and urban design firm, today announced the completion of a 285,415 square-foot infill mixed-use development in the heart of downtown Long Beach. Designed for developer Holland Partner Group, Volta on Pine features 271 apartment units, 1,300 square feet of ground-level retail, subterranean parking and extensive sidewalk space to activate the pedestrian experience. Situated on two adjacent lots, the mid-rise buildings are linked together by a sky bridge across a separating alleyway. Volta on Pine is now open and accepting tours by appointment.

Located at 635 Pine Avenue in downtown Long Beach, the community boasts a host of shared spaces and amenities including a rooftop terrace and sky lounge, fitness center, swimming pool with sun deck, hot hub, outdoor grills, and firepits, parcel lockers, electric vehicle charging stations, bike storage and three levels of subterranean parking totaling 341 parking stalls.

“We’re honored to partner with Holland Partner Group to introduce a vibrant and walkable mixed-use community to downtown Long Beach,'' said Paul Kearney, LEED AP, associate partner, MVE. “Conveniently located in the city center near public transit with direct access to numerous restaurants, retail shops, parks, beaches, entertainment and more, Volta on Pine provides residents and visitors alike with the energy, community and amenities of true urban living.”

Comprised of 231,172 square feet of rentable space, units range from 629 to 1,400 square feet in studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom configurations, some with street facing entry. Holland Partner Group will dedicate 11 apartment units as median-income affordable housing. Key apartment highlights include custom-finish packages, keyless entry, Nest thermostats, LED lit vanity mirrors, soft close drawers and cabinets, in-home full-size washer and dryer, high end kitchen counters and appliances, solar mesh roller shades, soaking tubs, and large balconies and windows offering abundant natural light and picturesque views.

“We’re excited to introduce a dynamic, urban living option to downtown Long Beach’s North Pine neighborhood,” said Ryan Guthrie, Development Director at Holland Partner Group. “The name and design of Volta on Pine symbolizes movement and connection and the everyday energy and experiences of area residents. Through myriad opportunities for socialization balanced with thoughtfully designed apartments to relax and recharge, residents will be proud to call Volta on Pine home.”

MVE and Holland Partner Group worked with landscape architect LRM and interior design firm Arial Fox on the project. Other notable mixed-use and residential projects by MVE include One Museum Square, a 296,000-square-foot luxury high-rise apartment community in Los Angeles’ Miracle Mile; a six-story, 490-unit mixed-use community in Los Angeles’ Korea Town; a 2.45-acre, 375-unit mixed-use project on the San Pedro harbor front; and an 8-story, mixed-use community in the Sugar House District of Salt Lake City, to name a few.
