The Habitat Company Continues Expansion of Condominium Division with 567 New Units Under Management in Chicago Market

CHICAGO, IL - The Habitat Company, a leading U.S. multifamily developer and property manager, announced today the firm has been awarded property management of Carl Sandburg Village Condominium Association No. 1 in Chicago. The Habitat Company assumed management responsibilities of the building’s 567 units on May 1, 2021. The addition of Carl Sandburg Village Condominium Association No. 1 to Habitat’s property management portfolio underscores the firm’s consistent growth over the past year. In fact, Habitat has experienced an increase of more than 1,500 condominium units under its management in 2021 alone.

“On the heels of a challenging and uncertain year, we have been able to continue the expansion of our condominium management division, which doubled in size in 2020,” said Matt Fiascone, president of The Habitat Company. “We are incredibly proud of the division’s rapid growth under David Barnhart’s leadership and are equally pleased that we have retained 97% of our valued condominium clients over the past 10 years,” Fiascone added. “These statistics are a testament to the Habitat property management model and our unparalleled commitment to the residents we serve.”

With 50 years’ experience in real estate, Habitat is uniquely positioned to support condominium associations through both challenging times and day-to-day operations with service and expense management at the forefront. The firm’s vast capabilities and programs range from convenient mobile service request systems and detail-focused, on-site management teams to engineering and facility experts who ensure each building is well-maintained with capital improvements planned and delivered as intended. Signature offerings, including Habitat’s “Coffee and Conversation” meetings allow Habitat to tailor its proven model to each association it serves.

“We know one size does not fit all in property management and we are always eager to meet the unique needs of each association and resident we have the privilege to serve,” said David Barnhart, vice president of condominium management at Habitat. “We look forward to working with Carl Sandburg Village Condominium Association No. 1 and using our team’s collective talents to support the association’s continued success.”

Located within the 16-acre footprint of Carl Sandburg Village in Chicago’s celebrated Gold Coast neighborhood, Carl Sandburg Village Condominium Association No. 1 is comprised of two 27-story towers featuring 567 units. Residences within Carl Sandburg Village Condominium Association No. 1, otherwise known as Cummings - Dickinson House, range in size from studio layouts to combined five-bedroom units. Amenities at the sprawling Carl Sandburg Village’s complex include two swimming pools, tennis courts and an expansive outdoor promenade with tot lot.

With the addition of Carl Sandburg Village Association No. 1, Habitat’s condominium portfolio now includes 15 associations and 5,638 units under management in Chicago and Southeast Michigan. In January, Habitat added 1,010 new units to the firm’s condominium management division with the award of 899 South Plymouth Court and South Commons Phase 1 Condominium Association – both in Chicago.
