NAA Represents Industry At Political Conventions

WASHINGTON, DC - The National Apartment Association (NAA) had a prominent role at two real estate policy forums with members of Congress held during the Republican and Democratic political conventions.

NAA Chairman Jerry Wilkinson and Chair-Elect Alex Jackiw represented NAA at the forums. Their remarks and questions focused on the impact of potential tax reform in 2013 on issues including partnership treatment, business interest deductions, the Low Income Housing Tax Credit and carried interest. The forums were titled “A Strong Real Estate Market Is Vital for a Robust Economic Recovery.”

Wilkinson, chairman of the Wilkinson Companies in Atlanta, participated in the forum during the Republican National Convention and Jackiw, managing director of residential client services at McKinley, Inc. in Brownsburg, Ind., discussed apartment industry concerns with members of Congress at the forum held during the Democratic National Convention.

NAA and 18 other real estate organizations joined forces to sponsor these high-profile forums to raise the real estate industry’s visibility through a single signature event at each convention.  The webcasts will be available later for on-demand viewing on NAA’s website.
