Eitel Building City Apartments Finalist for ULI Award

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - In the multifamily housing industry, a property’s “whole package” is extremely important -- from the design and architecture, to planning and property management, and landscaping and apartment layout. The Urban Land institute’s Global Awards for Excellence recognizes real estate developments utilizing best practices, promoting economic viability and showcasing excellent design. Eitel Building City Apartments, a 211-unit luxury apartment building located in the heart of downtown Minneapolis, has all of that and more. Developed by Michigan-based Village Green, managed by Village Green’s Minneapolis regional office and designed by BKV Group, the property was recently selected as one of only 29 world-wide finalists for the Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) 2012 Global Awards for Excellence.

This is the first time, in its 34 year history, the ULI Awards of Excellence have held one global competition instead of multiple national competitions.  More than 200 entries were received, and Eitel joins the company of developments from foreign countries like Denmark, Turkey, Australia, China and Italy.

The urban luxuries of Eitel Building City Apartments, including the property’s boutique hotel amenities, were the result of a historic adaptive reuse renovation of the 1912 Eitel Hospital. The interior and exterior of the Eitel Building were transformed to create an amazing urban oasis. In a testament to the public’s acceptance of Eitel Building City Apartments, within just 10 months of opening, Eitel achieved 95% occupancy.

Winners of ULI’s Excellence Awards will be announced in October 2012.
