888 on Main was originally built in 1966 to house the Orange County headquarters for Security Bank and added as a landmark on the Santa Ana Register of Historic Properties in 2017. Famous architect Welton Becket and his firm Welton Becket and Associates served as the architect on the original project. The Getty Institute describes Becket as “an acclaimed architect whose iconic designs defined the build environment of Los Angeles in the mid-twentieth century.” His firm is responsible for other iconic buildings such as Capital Records Tower, Beverly Hilton Hotel, and the Contemporary Hotel at Walt Disney World.
