Milhaus Announcing Opening of $72 Million Artistry KC Apartment Building and Art Gallery in Kansas City’s East Crossroads District

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Milhaus, a national award-winning developer, owner and operator of class A, in-fill, and mixed-use developments is excited to announce Artistry KC is now open.

Artistry KC is a $72 million, five-story apartment project located at 1918 Locust Street, Kansas City, MO 64108, and includes 341 apartment units, 11,700 square feet of commercial space, and a 351-spot parking garage. Studio, one, two and three-bedroom units are available and range from 410 to 1,277 square feet. Top-tier amenities include a maker’s space, pet spa, fitness center, pool and sun deck, and unique to the Artistry brand, a public art gallery.

The community infuses luxury and urban living with an appreciation for the arts, showcasing local artists’ work in permanent installations across the property in addition to the rotating gallery. Milhaus and Artistry KC partnered with local consultant Leroy Allen Fine Art to curate over $120,000 worth of local artwork to be installed throughout the property.

“Kansas City’s East Crossroads district is an eclectic neighborhood filled with vibrant street art, trendy restaurants and chic galleries,” said Jaime Masters with Leroy Allen Fine Art. “The Artistry brand fits perfectly within the city landscape as it continues to bring a unique presence in the East Crossroads neighborhood. We are excited to work with Milhaus on this project as it helps showcase local Kansas City artists on a permanent basis and expose residents to their artwork daily.”

Two murals are featured prominently on the property. Spaceship Zulu, a local Kansas City artist, is creating the public-facing mural at the property’s main entrance on 19th and Oak Street. Another Kansas City local, Michael Toombs, is creating the largest mural on-site that can be seen from the pool area.

Artistry KC will also include works from the following artists:

  1. Julia Quiltoff
  2. Ben Watson
  3. LeRoy Allen
  4. Dylan Mortimer
  5. Julie Messenger
  6. Charlotte May
  7. Oliver and Miranda Clark
  8. Rif Raf Giraffe
  9. Nicolas Gadbois
  10. Felix T. Maull
  11. Chris Mundwiller
  12. Paper Llamas
  13. Danika

Conveniently located in the East Crossroads neighborhood, Artistry KC is joining the downtown residential revival. Artistry KC sits a block from the 18th St. corridor and is surrounded by the neighborhood’s best local eateries, shopping and entertainment.

“Artistry KC is within walking distance to the KC Streetcar and steps away from 18th St.,” said John McGurk, Vice President of Development for Milhaus. “We’re excited to join and become big supporters of this neat local scene and introduce new residents to the area.”

Milhaus partnered with Dwell Design Studio, DRAW Architecture and SK Design Group, Inc. to bring Artistry KC to Kansas City, the third location in Milhaus’ Artistry brand collection. Artistry locations are also open in Indianapolis and St. Petersburg, Florida, with Artistry Cincinnati under construction. This is the fourth Kansas City development for Milhaus.
