Lawson to Begin Construction on 164-Unit Market Heights Apartments Affordable Housing Community in Downtown Norfolk, Virginia

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA - Virginia Beach developer Lawson will commence construction at 630 Tidewater Drive in Norfolk, VA. The former U.S. Post Office on the corner of Tidewater Drive and Brambleton Avenue will be the site of Market Heights Apartments, a 164-unit LIHTC (Low Income Housing Tax Credit) affordable housing community.

Market Heights is an inclusive community with 80 units meeting universal design requirements, 12 units reserved for residents with developmental disabilities, and 17 ADA units offering fully accessible homes for residents with physical disabilities. Lawson also donated space on-site for supportive service provider-partner, Hope House, to provide services to residents with developmental disabilities.

Market Heights is an energy-efficient EarthCraft Certified community meeting Norfolk’s cutting-edge requirements for wind and flood resilience. Features include a first-class clubroom, playground, pocket park with walking path, fitness center, laundry facility, bicycle storage, pet station, and grilling area.

Lawson anticipates welcoming the community’s first residents in early 2022.
