Houston Apartment Association Honors Industry’s Best

HOUSTON, TX - More than 1,000 Houston apartment industry professionals honored their best today at the Houston Apartment Association’s (HAA) annual Honors Awards (formerly Industry Achievement Awards) banquet. HAA members recognized 16 properties and 15 individuals representing a cross-section of apartment communities and jobs for their contributions to the industry.

The property awards, given for the first time this year, went to outstanding new development for garden-style and mid/high rise properties, green communities, best redevelopment project and for community service. Criteria included:

• Resident Service (floor plans, interior/exterior structure, maintenance, appropriate to locale, overall customer service)
• Physical Appearance/Appeal (both interior and exterior, models, office/common areas)
• Community Service (community revitalization, involvement, environmental awareness)
• Operating Performance (could include net effective rents, occupancy rate/retention, controllable expenses, and year-over-year results versus comparables in submarket)
• Unique Features/Amenities/Services that make the property stand out
