National Association of Home Builders Announces 2019 Multifamily Pillars of the Industry Awards Finalist

WASHINGTON, DC The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) has announced the finalists for the 2019 Multifamily Pillars of the Industry Awards. A panel of 12 industry experts narrowed the entries down to 74 finalists in 24 categories. Finalists came from more than half the U.S. states, with California, Washington, D.C. and Texas supplying at least seven each.

While there were many entries with attractive design, amazing amenities and breathtaking views, the judges also rewarded entrants that demonstrated “design with the community in mind” and “engagement with the local community.”

“The general quality of the entries was outstanding,” said Gary Campbell, chairman of NAHB's Multifamily Council and president of Gilbert G. Campbell Real Estate in Lowell, Mass. “From income-restricted communities to high-priced condominium projects, and new construction to repositioning and historic renovation, they were all places that any of us would be proud to call home.”

Many architects and interior designers took a step back from the urban/industrial look, embracing simpler, clean lines in model units. Green and energy-efficient approaches to building were abundant and, even in cities, architects found ways to include open green space, walking paths and recreational space while ensuring that the outdoors could be enjoyed more privately as well.
