Woodfield Hires Brian Schick as Vice President

ALEXANDRIA, VA -  Woodfield Investments LLC announced that Brian Schick will serve as Woodfield’s Vice President of Development.  To foster the firm’s strategic growth initiative, Schick will focus on assisting Chad Hagler with site acquisition, development and investor relations in the Charlotte market as well as explore other markets in the Carolinas, Virginia and Georgia.  Co - Founder Mike Underwood stated that “Woodfield will benefit greatly from Brian’s diverse background in economic development, government relations, finance and construction.”  Underwood, and his fellow partners: Greg Bonifield, Todd Jacobus, Mike Schwarz, Margaret Smith Ford and Chad Hagler have built over three dozen apartment communities in the Southeast and mid-Atlantic.  Their current multi-family pipeline is nearly $400,000,000.

From 2004 to 2011, Brian served as Manager of Business Development for Turner Construction Company in the Carolinas. With construction volume of over $9 billion, Turner is the nation’s largest general builder.  During his tenure, Brian was directly responsible for sales approaching $1 billion, including some of Turner’s most notable projects:  N.C. Research Campus - Cabarrus County Law Enforcement Center - NASCAR Hall of Fame - UNC Charlotte: Engineering Production and Infrastructure Center - Harrah’s-Cherokee Casino and Hotel.

Prior to joining Turner, Brian was the Charlotte Chamber’s Senior Vice President of Public Policy, leading the Chamber’s federal, state and local lobbying efforts. In that role, he led the coalition that successfully promoted the passage of legislation that authorized tax increment financing in North Carolina.  After graduating from the University of South Carolina - Moore School of Business with majors in Finance and Economics, Schick served two years as a political appointee of President Ronald Reagan at the U.S. Department of Energy headquarters in Washington.  He and his wife Kim live in Charlotte with their four daughters.

Brian is active in the community, including past service as a Board Member of Leadership Charlotte, Charlotte Trolley and Carolina Golf Club.  He has volunteered extensively with the United Way, Habitat for Humanity, Room in the Inn and Charlotte Family Housing.  Recently, he was instrumental in launching the Madison Hornbuckle Children’s Cancer Foundation.
