WASHINGTON, DC - The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has re-launched its popular Greenbuild365 Web site. Visitors will find increased educational offerings, podcasts and expanded resources, along with year-round access to plenaries and master speaker presentations from USGBC's Annual Greenbuild Conference & Expo - the industry's largest gathering of representatives from all sectors of the green building movement.
"The building industry is changing; we are no longer designing and constructing buildings in the same way we have always done," said Peter Templeton, Senior Vice President of Research & Education, USGBC. "The green building movement offers an unprecedented opportunity to respond to the most important challenges of our time, including global climate change, dependence on non-sustainable and expensive sources of energy and threats to human health."
Continued Templeton, "The fundamental driving force in the green building movement is the work of innovative building professionals; such leadership is a critical component to achieving USGBC's mission of a sustainable built environment for all within a generation. Greenbuild365 gives us a platform where that leadership and knowledge from a broad range of disciplines – design, construction, real estate, education and more – can be shared around the globe."
Generous support for Greenbuild365 was received from United Technologies. "Research shows many in the building industries misjudge both the costs and benefits of building green," said Andrea Doane, UTC Director of Community Affairs and Corporate Giving. "UTC is pleased to be the founding sponsor of Greenbuild365, an important tool in raising awareness of just how much can be done to increase efficiency and reduce energy consumption."
