NEW ORLEANS, LA - KAI Design & Build and McCormack Baron Salazar are redeveloping the C.J. Peete public housing site in New Orleans into a 460-unit housing development valued at a minimum of $100 million. The two St. Louis-based companies are co-developing the project, which will include 410 garden and townhouse units; a 40-unit, three-story apartment building; and renovation of an existing administration building, community center and a 10-unit, three-story residential apartment building.
The plan includes redeveloping two neighborhood schools and a community building that will house support services programs and a business center.
Construction is expected to begin in October and be completed in January 2011.
KAI Design & Build and McCormack Baron Salazar are teaming with the New Orleans Neighborhood Development Collaborative (NONDC) to redevelop the site.
NONDC is a non-profit organization whose mission is to increase the availability of quality affordable housing in New Orleans' Central City neighborhood.
KAI Design & Build will serve as the architect of record for the project and will manage and coordinate the team of engineering consultants.
McCormack Baron Salazar specializes in the development and management of mixed-income communities in inner-city neighborhoods throughout the country.
