LEWISTON, ID - The Idaho Housing and Finance Association (IHFA) helped cut the ribbon Wednesday on Lewiston's latest senior living concept. It's called the Tullamore Apartments, featuring 48 one and two bedroom units at 908 Bryden Avenue. It's the second such building built by Thomas Development Company in Lewiston.
"This is for individual families with a member over 62-years-old," said Julie Williams, Senior Vice President, IHFA "And they have income qualification set by the various components of financing; the tax credit program, the federal home program."
Affordable is the key word. One-bedroom apartments go for as low as $240 a month, and two-bedrooms are no higher than $570 a month.
IHFA helped fund the construction, which finished in early February. Julie Williams said, even with the recent completion, if you wanted to move in, you're already too late. "One of things that's very special about this project is, as of today at this open house, it's 100 percent leased up," she said. "Obviously, that speaks very well to the demand of senior affordable housing in Lewiston."
The residents who were closer to the top of the waiting list said they're happy they got in. "I came form out of state," said Lynette Keany, 62. "My twin sister had put my name in a few months ago and I was one that was accepted, and I certainly appreciate the amount of rent I have to pay each moth on a fixed income."
"Everyone was very courteous and friendly," said Patricia Broncheau, 68. "Between maintenance and the different people around, they did a wonderful job."
"I love it," said Keany. "I think this is just an awesome place to live. I love Lewiston, I love the apartment house. Everyone here is really friendly, and it's going to be a nice little community."
