Senior Lifestyle Corporation Breaks Ground on New Retirement Housing Community in Illinois

GREEN OAKS, IL - Senior Lifestyle Corporation, a privately-held owner, operator, and developer of senior housing communities, hosted the official ground breaking of one of its newest planned communities, The Sheridan at Green Oaks, on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 10:30 a.m. Green Oak's Mayor Bernard Wysocki, as well as a host of city officials, community leaders, and other dignitaries, including Bryan Muskat, Village of Green Oaks Trustee and Dianne Yaconetti, Lamb's Farm chief executive officer, were on-hand to celebrate the official ground breaking ceremony.

The Sheridan at Green Oaks is scheduled to open in early 2017 and will feature 78 independent-living and 64 assisted-living apartment homes, as well as 64 memory care residences developed specifically to support those with Alzheimer's, dementia and other memory-impairing illnesses. The 212,326 square foot retirement community will sit on approximately 14.5 acres of land at 29330 N. Waukegan Road at the corner of Atkinson Ave. and Waukegan Rd.

"What makes the Sheridan Collection so special is that it offers the latest from a care, design and amenity perspective while incorporating a warm and nurturing environment – all while backed with the expertise in operations from a veteran in senior living," said Matthew Phillips, executive vice president of development for Senior Lifestyle Corporation. "We have worked to bring this concept to market for three and a half years and are excited to bring residents and potential residents offerings tailored for this community."

Residents of the community will have access to 50,000 square feet of common space with dining rooms, multi-purpose great rooms, fitness centers, an art studio, and more. In addition, the planned retirement community will seamlessly integrate into the local community through pathways that lead directly to local retail and healthcare providers. What's more, technology that meets the needs of senior residents will integrate across platforms to allow access to the internet, providing access to family and staff in an easy to use format.

The development brings more than 100 jobs to the local community during the expected 18-month construction period. Additionally, Senior Lifestyle expects to hire nearly 100 full-time equivalent jobs with both full- and part-time permanent positions.

In addition, The Sheridan at Green Oaks will donate $2,500 ($50 per ground breaking attendee) to Lamb's Farm, a non-profit organization located in Libertyville, Ill. that serves people with developmental disabilities.

"We're extremely excited to welcome Senior Lifestyle Corporation to the Green Oaks community," said Mayor Wysocki. "The Sheridan at Green Oaks will create hundreds of jobs in our community during the development phase and after the communities opening. We are also thrilled that our senior community will have a new retirement option that provides the level of expert care that Senior Lifestyles has become known for throughout the country."

Senior Lifestyle Corporation currently has five Sheridan Collection retirement communities planned to open in the next year in Illinois, Wisconsin and Florida.
