WASHINGTON, DC - Peterson Companies and The Bozzuto Group, two D.C. area-based and privately-owned development companies, announced that The Esplanade, National Harbor’s first apartment community, will open for pre-leasing starting September 6. The development is the newest addition to National Harbor and the only apartment community to join the 350-acre resort community located on the Potomac River.

The heart of the six-floor, pet-friendly community is a dramatic two-level courtyard, which offers bocce, lawn games, and chess, as well as an outdoor kitchen with grill, firepit, unique sculptures, and art installations.

Additional amenities include a resident clubhouse comprised of a great room with bar, pool table, card table, and fireplace, a movie theater with oversized armchairs, a business center/conference room, and a High Definition Golf Simulator™ virtual golf system. The Esplanade’s state-of-the art fitness center includes yoga studio, TRX® equipment, cardio machines, free weights and strength machines, and a virtual group fitness area with exercise videos featuring kickboxing, dance, cycling, yoga, and more.

National Harbor recently announced that Granite City Food & Brewery will open on the ground floor of The Esplanade. The restaurant, a polished casual Modern American restaurant featuring a wide variety of dishes prepared from made-from-scratch recipes, as well as an on-site microbrewery, will occupy nearly 11,000 square feet of space and seating for approximately 300 people. The expansive interior spaces will showcase a full-service, modern wrap-around bar that will flow into an atrium, an open kitchen, a central hearth oven, a private dining room, an exterior patio and an on-site microbrewery visible from inside the restaurant and available for tours.

A multitude of destinations surrounds The Esplanade: The Capital Wheel, the 180-foot tall, world-class attraction, more than 40 retailers including the Tanger Outlets, more than 30 waterfront dining options, free community events, and direct access to I-495, I-95, and I-295. A $925 million MGM Resorts International casino offering 3,600 slot machines and 140 table games is scheduled to open in 2016.
