Champion Expands Portfolio With Acquisition of 108-Unit Caleb's Creek Apartments in Westerville, Ohio

WESTERVILLE, OH - Just three months into 2013, Champion has acquired its twelfth apartment community, as a Champion-sponsored affiliate purchased Caleb’s Creek Apartments, a 108-unit complex that resides in Westerville, Ohio, at the corner of Hamilton Rd. and Warner Rd. This brand new rental community was built in early 2012 and had its grand opening later the same year.

According to Michelle Yeager-Thornton, co-founder and chief operating officer, Champion views this addition as a great complement to its current portfolio. “We are seeing a lot of growth in the New Albany and Westerville area,” Yeager-Thornton said. “Caleb’s Creek will be our fourth apartment complex on the northeast side of Columbus. The area surrounding Hamilton Rd. is rapidly growing, and we believe Caleb’s Creek will be another great addition to our multi-family portfolio.”

Caleb’s Creek offers luxury living, featuring one- and two-bedroom garden-style apartments. It also offers corporate housing, through CORT Furniture, and short-term leases. Each apartment is outfitted with a fully-equipped kitchen, nine-foot ceilings, and full-size washer and dryer connections.

The Westerville/New Albany area is one of the most vibrant and fastest-growing areas in central Ohio and is home to an abundance of new and thriving businesses. The community’s location offers residents a lifestyle of convenience with its proximity to Easton Town Center’s shopping, dining and entertainment options, as well as easy access to Rt. 161 and I-270.

Champion currently manages 3,000 apartments across central Ohio, having steadily grown its management and investment portfolio over the last three years, and shows no sign of slowing down as it moves into the second quarter of 2013.

“As a company, we are continually looking for acquisitions or third-party property management opportunities that fit our business model and are smart, long-term investments,” Dan Hunter, chief investment officer, said. “We think 2013 is going to be a great year for Champion.”
