CARSON, CA - Affirmed Housing Group announced the groundbreaking of Arbor Green Apartments. A truly unique community, Arbor Green not only offers affordable housing to qualified families, but utilities are anticipated to be almost free do to its major sustainable elements.
Affirmed Housing Group, also the developer of Los Angeles Chinatown community Lotus Garden, has partnered with the City of Carson to develop and manage Arbor Green, a three-story affordable family community. This development will include 40 apartment homes comprised of one, two, and three-bedroom units, each with a storage locker. Community amenities include covered parking, a community room, a computer lab, a laundry room, a tot lot, and a barbecue area. Arbor Green staff will provide homework assistance, life skills training, and cooking classes for residents. The affordable community will serve households earning between 30%-60% of Los Angeles County's AMI.
The development will be designed to achieve LEED Gold certification. Major sustainable elements include rooftop photovoltaic panels and solar water heating systems. The project has been underwritten using the California Utility Allowance Calculator to ensure the development optimizes energy efficiency. Resident utilities are estimated to be $1 to $3 per month.
