During the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas, Nev., at three different award ceremonies, KTGY earned a platinum award as well as gold and silver awards plus a special Innovation award. These awards recognize KTGY as research-driven forward thinkers and leaders in the industry and honor the firm's wide range of capabilities and innovation in single-family attached, detached and multifamily residential communities. These projects also serve as a preview of design trends home buyers and renters will see over the next few years.
Best in American Living Awards (BALA)
• Platinum Award Winner: R&D 35’x50’ Lots – On the Boards, Single Family

A mixed-use solution within the City of Carson's Carson Street Mixed-Use District Master Plan that creates a strong retail street presence along Carson Street, with lower density housing types towards the interior of the site that radiate around a central loop road and community park. CityView and Community Dynamics are the developers.

The Solaris Collection by Garbett Homes at Daybreak in Salt Lake City, Utah, continues to impress with an additional 25 lots coming on line in the first quarter of 2013, due to continued strong demand. As utility rates continue to increase, these super-green solar and geothermal homes become even more desirable. Garbett Homes has sold over 200 homes at Solaris since August 2009. Earlier this month, Professional Builder announced that Solaris Collection, Plan B had won its Platinum Design Award in the Single-Family Production - 2,000 SF or Below category.

Located in Los Angeles, the LEED Gold certified Dana Strand Senior Housing provides 100 apartment homes and was a public/private partnership between the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) with ROEM Development Corporation and Dana Strand Senior, LLC. Dana Strand combines eco-friendly, sustainable design with luxury, amenity-rich living at an affordable rental rate specifically targeting the needs of seniors.

Innovative, cost-effective design maximizes and maintains Parkview Living's dramatic city and park views and accentuates the revered architectural heritage and complements the iconic adjacent Angelus Temple and historic walkable neighborhood of Echo Park, Calif. The Foursquare Senior Living community includes many indoor and outdoor amenities including a unique 3,000-square-foot multi-purpose room that is designed to serve as a Chapel for the community bringing worship services to the residents' doorstep.

Developed by Central Valley Coalition for Affordable Housing and Adroit Development, Inc., Heritage Oaks Senior Apartments in Oakdale, Calif. is a LEED Platinum certified 50-unit apartment community for low income seniors age 55 and older. The community offers a variety of indoor and outdoor amenities including a hobby and craft studio for the women and a "garage" with workbench for the men. Residents can even try out their green thumb skills at the raised gardening areas. Construction was completed in 10 months, ahead of schedule and under budget. 100% leased within 3 months of completion date.
• Silver Award Winner: The Magnolia at Highland – Best 50+ Affordable Rental Community
Located in San Bernardino, Calif., and developed by META Housing, The Magnolia at Highland answers many needs: walkable and convenient access to what seniors want and need; transforms a blighted neighborhood site into affordable, luxury, amenity-rich senior living for those age 62 or better; revitalizes the neighborhood and serves as a new benchmark and catalyst for development in the area; and helps mitigate the demand for more senior housing.

• Gold Award Winner: Primera Terra – Best Architectural Design of a Multi-Family Community
Built by KB Home, Primera Terra is an innovative redesign solution by KTGY comprising of 52 LEED Platinum certified, luxury for-sale condominium homes located in the Playa Vista master planned community in Los Angeles County. One of the largest LEED Platinum production home communities in California, Primera Terra is 40% more energy efficient than the new home standards set by the state of California. Earlier this month, Professional Builder announced that Primera Terra had won its Platinum Design Award in the Green category and won the 2012 U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED for Homes award in the Multifamily category.
