Campus Apartments Connects Rent Pay to Facebook

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Campus Apartments, one of the nation’s largest privately held providers of student housing, announced the addition of Facebook Connect to SmartClick, the company’s online account portal for students and parents. Adding Facebook Connect provides one-click access to make payments, view tenant ledger and submit service requests for students and additional users the student designates. A one-time, less than a minute, set-up between Facebook and SmartClick accounts enables one-click access.

“We want to make ourselves available effortlessly 24/7 to our residents,” said John Ailor, Senior Director of Web and Wireless Technologies at Campus Apartments. “Connecting SmartClick and Facebook makes our already unique, tightly integrated, tenant account portal even easier to use. Nearly all our residents and many of their parents are on Facebook throughout the day so this was a natural evolution of the portal,” continued Ailor. “Connecting Facebook and SmartClick eliminates the need to remember yet another username and password. Students and parents do not need to be Facebook friends to connect to SmartClick via Facebook, we wanted to eliminate that barrier, too,” Ailor concluded.

SmartClick’s new Facebook log-in capability continues Campus Apartments’ tradition of developing first-to-market technologies for the student housing industry. In 2010, Campus Apartments launched the first mobile application in the student housing industry, a free application that allowed residents to access SmartClick from an iPhone or Android mobile phone, making it possible to pay rent and submit service requests on-the-go. Also in that year, Campus Apartments announced the availability of the first 100 megabit per resident Internet service for the student housing market.

Campus Apartments, LLC, the oldest and one of the largest privately held student housing companies in the nation, is a leader in the development and management of university affiliated real estate. The company has more than $1.5 billion worth of assets under management with more than 32,000 beds in 25 states.
