The Fitzgerald Wins ULI Award for Excellence
GREENBELT, MD - The Bozzuto Group and Gould Property Company announced that The Fitzgerald, a distinctive new mixed-use community located in the heart of Baltimore's Mount Vernon cultural district, has been selected as a winner in the Urban Land Institute's (ULI) Awards for Excellence: The Americas competition. The award is widely recognized as the land use industry's most prestigious recognition.

Selected from more than 140 entries throughout North and South America, The Fitzgerald will now advance for consideration in the ULI Global Awards for Excellence program, which honors projects that demonstrate cross-regional lessons in real estate development.

"We are honored that the Urban Land Institute selected The Fitzgerald as one of the ten best developments in The Americas," said Tom Bozzuto, CEO, The Bozzuto Group. "We rely on the ULI to provide guidance and leadership in the responsible use of land and in the creation of sustainable communities. For that reason, this recognition is especially meaningful."

On the site of a former coal yard, The Fitzgerald comprises 275 luxury apartments, 24,000 square feet of street-level retail and a 1,245 space public parking garage managed by Parking Management, Inc. (PMI).

As a result of Gould Property developer Lyssandra Barbieri's and Bozzuto developer Jeff Kayce's leadership and expertise in sustainable development, The Fitzgerald is also the largest LEED-certified residential community in the Baltimore area and is home to the city's first public electric-vehicle charging stations. Adjacent to the light rail line and walking distance to Penn Station, the new building is a leading investment in a larger neighborhood redevelopment effort led by the University of Baltimore.

A Barnes & Noble College Booksellers Superstore serves as the retail anchor of The Fitzgerald. The store features 20,000 square feet of retail space on two levels, a Starbucks-branded cafe, and designated areas for UB textbook and institutional sales. Two Boots, a famed New York pizzeria, opened its doors at The Fitzgerald this week and additional retail will open in the fall.

The Fitzgerald is a joint venture between The Bozzuto Group, Gould Property Company, NYSTRS and former Baltimore Raven Michael McCrary, and sits on 4.6 acres of land owned by the University of Baltimore. The community was developed by Bozzuto Development Company, built by Bozzuto Construction Company, and is now managed by Bozzuto Management Company.

Headquartered in the Washington, D.C. area, The Bozzuto Group is a diversified residential real estate company consisting of six integrated companies – Acquisitions, Construction, Development, Homebuilding, Land Development and Property Management – that together provide a broad range of real estate services throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. The company is committed to providing quality housing for individuals of all income levels, producing everything from luxury homes and apartments to affordable housing solutions.
