DENVER, CO - Apartment Investment and Management Company (Aimco) (NYSE: AIV), one of the nation's largest owners and operators of apartment communities, received the 2010 Communities of Quality Program Award from the National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA), a leading affordable housing advocacy organization representing multifamily owners and management companies.
For the fourth consecutive year, Aimco was recognized for having the nation's greatest number of multifamily communities that have earned NAHMA's "Communities of Quality®" (COQ) certification for excellence in affordable property management, customer service, personnel performance and other areas. The award was formally presented to Aimco at NAHMA's annual meeting in Washington, D.C. earlier this month.
Aimco has 107 apartment communities that have earned recognition as a COQ, a designation earned by achieving high ratings for outstanding physical surroundings, resident service and management practices. "Leading the multifamily industry with the largest number of affordable apartments designated as communities of quality demonstrates Aimco's commitment to excellence," said Kris Cook, NAHMA Executive Director. "We are pleased that Aimco has continued this strong record, and has maintained its status as one of NAHMA's valued corporate partners."
"We are honored to once again receive this award from NAHMA, and I congratulate our team members across the country whose outstanding efforts have earned this recognition," said Keith Kimmel, Aimco Executive Vice President of Operations. "Helping residents access medical and transportation resources, finding assistance for them with routine housekeeping chores, and teaching them to use a computer are just a few ways Aimco demonstrates its commitment to providing superior service to residents in our affordable communities."
A real estate investment trust headquartered in Denver, Colorado, Aimco owns and/or manages both affordable and market-rate communities across the country, serving nearly 500,000 residents each year. Aimco's 768 properties are located in 43 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. Aimco common shares are traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol AIV and are included in the S&P 500.
