EVERETT, WA - Florence Simmons, 89, will never have to worry about paying rent again. Today, Holiday Retirement selected the Cascadian Place resident as the recipient of its Free Rent for Life Giveaway as part of its national Swing into Spring promotion. More than 30,000 current Holiday residents across the United States and Canada were entered into the drawing, and Simmons was the fortunate senior selected to enjoy Holiday's all-inclusive independent retirement lifestyle at no cost for the rest of her life.
"I've never won anything before. When they called my name, I didn't believe it was real," said Simmons. "Everyone that has congratulated me so far says, 'I bet you'll sleep well tonight,' but I doubt I'll sleep a wink, I'm too excited!"

Simmons has spent nearly her entire life in Everett, Wash. A graduate of Everett High School, she married, raised four children and worked as a bookkeeper and dispatcher for her husband's construction company. Growing up in the local community, Simmons loved roller skating and sewing projects. Now she enjoys collecting butterfly pins and keeps her mind and body young through community classes such as Spanish and Tai Chi. Simmons also takes advantage of weekly field trips offered through Cascadian Place, including the annual Tulip Festival in nearby Skagit Valley, Wash.
Simmons added, "I can't believe Holiday did this for me, this is the most wonderful surprise of my life!"
