Fisher House Receives Donation
CHICAGO, IL - State Farm, a committed supporter of the military, presented Fisher House Foundation with a $50,000 donation as a way of saying "thanks for being there" to our nation's service men and women. The donation was reflective of personal "thank you" notes America sent to ThanksForBeingThere.com where they expressed gratitude to those who have made an impact in their lives. For every "thank you" message sent State Farm donated $1 to Fisher House Foundation.

Fisher House is a military support organization that is there for military families whose loved ones are undergoing treatment at military or Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers throughout the country and overseas in Germany. Chicagoland veterans and State Farm employees who have served in the military or have family members in active duty gathered at the Hines Fisher House today for the donation ceremony.

State Farm's dedication to the military extends more than 65 years with world-class military support programs. The company also supports programs like the employee Military Affinity Group, Adopt-a-Soldier and the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).

"State Farm has a long-standing commitment to supporting members of the U.S. Armed Forces," said Duane Farrington, senior vice president, State Farm. "I'm proud that this donation will help honor America's heroes and provide valuable resources to support military families."

Since its inception in 1990, Fisher House has served more than 120,000 thousand families. "Fisher House is delighted to be the beneficiary of the ThanksForBeingThere.com campaign," said Cindy Campbell, community liaison, Fisher House Foundation. "State Farm's donation enables us to build more Fisher Houses to assist military families and increase awareness for our programs."

The Hines Fisher House is equipped with 20 suites and private bathrooms, all professionally decorated. The house features a common fully stocked kitchen, spacious dining room, an inviting living room, toys for children, and laundry facilities.

Fisher House Foundation is best known for the network of 43 comfort homes on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. The houses are 5,000 to 16,800 square foot homes, with up to 21 suites, donated to the military and Department of Veterans Affairs by Fisher House Foundation. The Foundation provides support to families of patients receiving care at the nearby medical center and has ensured that families of service men and women wounded or injured in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom do not pay for their stay at a Fisher House or other base facility if they are on a wait list.
