Crosland Helps Build Habitat House In Durham

New Story
Raleigh, N.C. -- Crosland LLC, one of the Triangle¹s leading real estate companies, has teamed up with Habitat for Humanity of Durham to help build a home in Durham's historic Golden Belt district. In fact, the morning after holding the grand opening for its newest luxury apartment community in Durham, Southpoint Village Apartments, Crosland associates were hard at work erecting walls of a new Habitat Home in Northeast Central Durham an area targeted for revitalization. Upon completion, the structure that Crosland staff members are helping to build will be the home for a family displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Sponsors include the Durham Rotary Clubs with leadership from the Downtown Durham Rotary Club.

The effort is part of the HOPE VI revitalization project, coordinated by the Durham Housing Authority (DHA). Habitat for Humanity of Durham is one of several organization brought in by DHA to revitalize this 96-block area of Northeast Central Durham. Habitat has nine homes that it is responsible for in the area; three are historic rehabs, and six are new construction. The new homes are being built to look like the original mill homes of the Golden Belt Mill.

Crosland employs 75 people in the Raleigh-Durham market and currently has more than 1,400 multi-family units in the development pipeline, 750,000 square feet of retail space and six single-family communities that include 3,000 residential lots purchased or under contract. Crosland manages nine apartment communities in the Triangle area including Dobbins Hill, The Apartments at Meadowmont, Wakefield Glen, The Apartments at Oberlin Court, Regency Place, Litchford Park, North Forest, Weston Lakeside and Southpoint Village.
