Greenlight Initiative Expands
NEW YORK, NY - Greenlight Initiative (GLI), a USA headquartered LED-lighting sales and solutions provider, continues to build upon its North American expansion strategy with the announcement today of the opening of its Chicago, Illinois regional office. Bill Hood, a 27-year lighting industry veteran will head Greenlight's Chicago office as regional coordinator.

Greenlight's continued expansion reflects the already-impressive growth that the LED-based lighting industry is demonstrating to the lighting market. Due to its overall efficiency and economic advantages, the solid state lighting industry has continued to show double-digit growth rates despite worldwide economic downturns.

LED lighting is allowing an increasing number of businesses with commercial and industrial facilities to capture previously unrealized cash flow through direct decreases in their operating and maintenance costs. In addition, LED, or "solid state" lighting, is more environmentally friendly, contains no mercury or other hazardous substances, and does not experience the consistent failures that fluorescent and other high-efficiency lighting sources are known for.

"From the outset, GLI has focused on structuring its company to bring comprehensive solutions capabilities to the solid state lighting marketplace. Given this total dedication to advanced energy efficient lighting technology, regional sales and support mechanisms are critical to ensure the success of our clients' projects," commented Nik Nicolakis, President and co-founder of Greenlight Initiative. "With his 27 years in the lighting industry, Bill Hood has a mastery of both the existing market structure, and of what lighting decision makers are looking for. Another of our new Chicago team members, Ken Petchenik, comes to us with success in the engineering, support and sales aspects of LED lighting. Together, they and the rest of the Chicago-based team know how to guide clients past the pitfalls and into successful SSL deployments."

Greenlight Initiative has become widely known for its qualitative approach to testing and selection of the solid state lighting solutions it offers to lighting decision makers. It is also becoming recognized across North America for its consultative processes that quantify energy efficient lighting as a cash-flow generating business element for its clients. GLI has also recently increased the staffing of its Atlanta, Georgia regional team and is making plans for both Southern California and Texas offices during Q4, 2009.

"We're excited about GLI's "quality-only" approach, and best-in-class product line-up," added Bill Hood, Greenlight's new Chicago regional coordinator. "Ken Petchenik and myself have seen the good, and not so good, solutions that companies have attempted to throw at the market. Greenlight Initiative took the more-difficult qualification-based method to identifying the right solutions for its clients. That approach is changing the playing field when it comes to the expectations that lighting decision makers have when it comes to their solutions provider. We are pleased to be part of this new approach as members of the Greenlight team."

Mr. Nicolakis concluded, "More and more commercial, industrial and public facilities operators, as well as exterior infrastructure providers including a number of municipalities world wide, are recognizing that LED lighting has not just become cost effective, but has changed some longstanding paradigms. Clients are finding that they need to view the SSL opportunity with the eyes of a CEO or CFO, as a business case, not simply as a "more expensive light bulb." We make it a priority to deliver not just a product solution, but a business efficiency solution, that will deliver complete success on the first try. Their big question now is how to identify reliable, high performance solutions, and Greenlight Initiative has answered by continuing its aggressive investment in support, sales and service."

Greenlight Initiative is a premier sponsor and presenter at this year's northeast SSL Design Summit networking conference, being held November 3-4 at the Hyatt Regency Jersey City. You can meet with GLI, along with prominent lighting decision makers, specifiers, municipal and energy efficiency organizations, as they come together with leading LED lighting manufacturers and technology providers to share current applications success stories and forward looking solutions.
