Southpoint Village Wins Award
RALEIGH, N.C. – Crosland, one of the Triangle's leading real estate companies, has received a 2009 Golden Leaf Merit Award for its Southpoint Village community in Durham, N.C. Crosland formally received the honor during the seventh annual Golden Leaf Awards Ceremony on May 28, presented by the Durham City-County Appearance Commission and Keep Durham Beautiful, Inc. As a residential property award recipient, Southpoint Village was acknowledged for its contribution to the visual beauty, sustainability and usability of Durham.

"Southpoint Village is known for the excellent quality of life it offers residents," said David Ravin, president of Crosland's Residential division. "This recognition underscores Crosland's commitment to designing, developing and managing properties that make our communities better places to live."

Located directly across from The Streets of Southpoint, Southpoint Village is a premiere community with 211 luxury apartment homes and townhouses. One of the unique aspects of this property is a 3.5 story, 55-unit clubhouse that surrounds a private resident courtyard and garden. The clubhouse houses an entertainment room, business center, media room, exercise facility and resident lounge.

"Crosland truly shines in its commitment to beautifying Durham, and Southpoint Village is a positive example of a community that enhances the visual quality and aesthetic character of the city," said Nakira Carter, chairwoman of the Golden Leaf Awards Committee. "Southpoint Village gives the residents of Durham a reason to be proud of their community."

This year, 12 Golden Leaf award winners were selected from 46 award entries. An independent panel of local professionals representing architecture, landscape architecture, development and the arts community served as judges. Selection criteria included excellence in design of a new development and/or improvement of an existing structure; raising community awareness of the value of good appearance and stewardship; improving the character, environment or livability of an area; and a commitment to ongoing property maintenance in landscaping, signage and general upkeep.

Founded in 1937, Crosland is one of the most prominent diversified real estate companies in the Southeast and is recognized as a leading community builder. Its expertise in retail, multifamily, office, land development and general contracting enables it to be an innovator in multi- and mixed-use development.
