Condos Are Milwaukee’s First For Fiber-Optic

New Story
MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Park Lafayette, the two, 20-story tower condominium development on Milwaukee’s East Side, today announced plans to build a powerful fiber-optic network that will be fully integrated into each of its 280 units. Park Lafayette, located on the corner of N. Prospect Ave. and E. Lafayette Place, will be the first condo to feature the state-of-the-art technology, according to the project’s developer, Renaissant Development Group.

“We’re very excited to bring this rare amenity to Milwaukee condo living, which we believe will elevate Park Lafayette to a whole new level of excellence and luxury,” said Warren Barr, president of Renaissant Development Group. “Our towers’ fiber-optic infrastructure is cutting edge and will allow each of our residents the opportunity to embrace future technology we can’t even imagine today.”

Each of the tower’s fiber-optic infrastructures will allow residents to embrace the future using virtually unlimited bandwidth available only through fiber. Bandwidth is critical to cutting-edge applications such as movies on demand, high-definition television, high-speed Internet, security monitoring, teleconferencing, Internet Protocol Television (IPTV), Voice-over Internet Protocol (VoIP), interactive gaming and real-time communications. By providing fiber-optic wiring directly to each unit, Park Lafayette will deliver more bandwidth than traditional coaxial cable with less hassle, fewer outages and interruptions, and high-tech convenience.

The virtually unlimited capacity of fiber allows boundless data to travel at the speed of light. In addition, residents can receive wireless Internet access in multiple common areas of each building.

Park Lafayette’s fiber infrastructure is being installed by the North Carolina-based Connexion Technologies, one of the country’s premier experts in fiber-optic deployment.

Brookfield-based Hunzinger Construction is the general contractor for Park Lafayette. The project recently reached its first major milestone with the completion of its 449-space, underground parking garage. Vertical construction of the two, 21-story towers began in early October. Construction is scheduled to be completed in September 2008.
