NAHB to Host Media Teleconference

NAHB to Host Media Teleconference
WASHINGTON, DC - The nation is in the midst of its worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. Since 2007, nearly two million total jobs have been lost. Builder confidence measures are at an all time low and foreclosures continue climbing to record levels. The economic crisis has spread to nearly every small town and city across the country, and families are suffering. On Dec. 17, NAHB will host a teleconference to discuss the state of the housing market and push for Congress to take bold and decisive action to spur a housing and economic recovery.

NAHB CEO Jerry Howard will discuss the Fix Housing First coalition and its recommendations for what elements Congress should include in an economic stimulus package. Phil Hoffman, a small home builder from Louisiana will provide a view from the front lines of the housing market, while Patrick Abercrombie of Lowe's Cabinet and Lighting Gallery will offer perspective on how his business has been affected by the weak market.

To participate in the call, please dial 1-800-860-2442 (toll-free) and ask for the "NAHB Fix Housing First" Call. If you are unable to participate in the teleconference, you may listen to a full replay of the call after the teleconference has concluded by calling 877-344-7529 and entering 426279 followed by the # sign when prompted for the account number. The replay will be accessible beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Dec. 17, and will be available until 5:00 p.m. Dec. 31.

NAHB's builder members will construct 80 percent of the nearly 1 million new housing units projected for 2008.
