Peachtree City Rated Top Place to Retire

New Story
Mayor Harold Logsdon wasn't the least bit surprised to hear U.S. News & World Report had tabbed Peachtree City as one of the nation's 10 best places to retire. "That's great," he said of the national magazine's issue Monday that featured the planned bedroom community south of Atlanta. "But we've known that for a long time. I'm glad the rest of the world knows it."

Other cities profiled were Bozeman, Mont.; Concord, N.H.; Fayetteville, Ark.; Hillsboro, Ore.; Lawrence, Kan.; Prescott, Ariz.; San Francisco, Calif.; Smyrna, Tenn.; and Venice, Fla.

Those cities were among the 2,000 with populations of more than 15,000 residents that the magazine considered, each evaluated by its cost of living, climate, crime rate, access to healthcare, educational opportunities and cultural and recreational amenities.

The magazine's review of Peachtree City focused on its unique 90-mile network of golf cart paths connecting the city's neighborhoods, golf courses and shopping centers.

The city's proximity to Atlanta also was cited, as were the area's natural beauty, golf courses, development controls and access to shopping.
