Habitat for Humanity Honors NYSE Employees
NEW YORK, NY - NYSE Euronext CEO Duncan Niederauer took a break from installing drywall at Habitat for Humanity New York City's construction site on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn recently and accepted an award for NYSE Euronext's "ongoing commitment to building affordable homes for New York families in need." NYSE Euronext and its staff were named Habitat NYC's 2008 Volunteer Group of the Year for their work. More than 130 NYSE employees have volunteered to raise walls, install insulation, lay flooring and paint Habitat homes.

"Habitat-NYC is proud to salute NYSE Euronext, Mr. Niederauer and his very dedicated employees," said Josh Lockwood, executive director of Habitat-NYC. "True to NYSE Euronext's reputation for hard work, when its volunteers come on-site—they work tirelessly until the job is done."

Said Niederauer, "Working with Habitat for Humanity has been a truly enriching and fulfilling experience for me and many of my colleagues. Being able to support such a worthwhile effort is fundamental to our mission of being good corporate citizens who donate more than money, but time and talent to our neighbors in need."

The award was presented by Doug Paul, vice chair of Credit Suisse and a member of Habitat-NYC's Board of Directors. The Atlantic Avenue complex is the largest multifamily Habitat project in the world and is being built to LEED standards for green building.

These eco-friendly, energy-efficient homes will help the future low-income homeowners save at least 30 percent on their energy bills, promote the families' health and help New York City create a sustainable future. The complex of three, four-story buildings is expected to be finished in 2009.
