OWINGS MILLS, MD - Groveton Green Apartments, a $35 million luxury eco-friendly community, celebrated a key milestone and established itself in history by becoming the first and only apartments in the Owings Mills, Maryland area to receive LEED Gold Certification. On March 7th at 2 p.m. Groveton Green Apartments will be officially awarded LEED Gold Certification by Roger Platt , Senior Vice President of Global Policy & Law, from the U.S Green Building Council (USGBC). County Executive Kevin Kamenetz is sending Vincent Gardina , Baltimore County Director of Environmental Protection and Sustainability, as his and the County's representative to participate in the event. The award will be presented in a ceremony in the Groveton Green Clubhouse at 9401 Groveton Circle, which is one block from the intersection of Lakeside Drive and Atrium Court in Owings Mills.
A globally recognized green building rating system, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) provides third-party verification that a building was designed and built using USGBC strategies aimed at improving energy savings, water efficiency, emissions reduction, indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources.
