GMH Capital Partners and Wexford Science & Technology Celebrate Grand Opening of River House Apartments in Providence, Rhode Island

NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA – GMH Capital Partners, L.P. (“GMH”) and Wexford Science & Technology, LLC (together, the “Partnership”) announced today the grand opening ceremony for River House located at 1 Point Street in Downtown Providence’s Innovation and Design District. Gina Raimondo, Governor of Rhode Island, will cut the ribbon at the 270-bed apartment community on June 20 at 1:00 p.m. The ceremony will include remarks by Governor Raimondo, President of GMH Gary Holloway, Jr., and Secretary of Commerce Stefan Pryor followed by a reception at the property. Additional notable guests include Mayor of Providence Jorge Elorza and Brown University Executive Vice President for Planning and Policy Russell Carey.

River House is an exceptional, brand-new riverfront apartment community overlooking the Providence River on South Street Landing, with close proximity to Brown University, Johnson & Wales University Providence Campus, Rhode Island School of Design, Rhode Island Nursing Education Center, and the University of Rhode Island. For Brown students, River House is conveniently located within walking distance from its College Hill campus and from the Warren Alpert Medical School, School of Professional Studies, Laboratories for Molecular Medicine, School of Public Health, and Brown University Shuttle stops. GMH started leasing the 174-unit residence in February 2019 and residents have already started moving in. The surrounding live, work, play community makes River House an ideal housing option for young professionals, and medical and graduate students alike.

“With over three decades in the business, GMH recognizes the specialized needs of young professionals and higher education students in today’s environment. River House’s stylish and modern apartments were designed with a focus on convenience and comfortability to appeal to their busy lifestyles and schedule demands,” said Holloway. “We are proud to be a part of the Providence Innovation and Design District and South Street Landing’s incredible transformation and look forward to officially opening River House’s doors alongside our partners and local dignitaries.”

“The Knowledge Community we are developing in Providence that includes our South Street Landing and Innovation Center buildings, becomes a true live, work, play, learn environment with the addition of River House Apartments and the vibrancy, activation, and amenities it offers the Innovation and Design District,” said Dan Cramer, President of Wexford Science & Technology.

The apartment community offers fully furnished and pet-friendly studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom options that can be leased by unit or by individual bedroom. Residents enjoy spacious floor plans and upscale in-unit amenities including designer bathrooms with walk-in showers; washers and dryers; complimentary ultra high-speed Wi-Fi; and mobile and smart technology with a mobile video interactive intercom system, a mounted living room smart TV, and Amazon Echo capability features. Community amenities include a 24-hour health and fitness center; a rooftop lounge with a fire pit and gourmet outdoor grilling and kitchen bar; a business center with PCs, Macs, and printers; group meeting and private study rooms; a cyber cafe with a complimentary coffee bar; and on-site retail and restaurants. Residents have access to an off-site, structured parking garage with car-charging stations and indoor bike storage. River House also provides direct riverfront access, giving residents the ability to tie up water vehicles (such as boats and kayaks) right on the water.

“The opening of River House adds to the Jewelry District’s essential housing space, a critical factor in continuing the neighborhood’s transformation into a vibrant, mixed-use environment home to a thriving blend of academic, economic and residential activity,” Carey said. “Wexford and GMH have brought to life a vision that started with Brown’s need for more graduate and medical student housing. The project will benefit not only students and other residents of River House, but all who live, work or study in the growing Innovation and Design District as well.”
