Lynd Breaks Ground on New Corporate Headquarters in Suburban San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Lynd, one of the largest and most successful multifamily management and development companies, has broken ground on a new 35,000 square-foot corporate headquarters a few miles away from its current location in San Antonio. The real estate firm has leased 20,000 square feet of office space for the last 15 years at the Forum Building located at 8000 IH-10 W.

The new three-story building in Shavano Park features an open floor plan with a contemporary design.  It starts with a dramatic two-story lobby and an all-glass elevator, which will be highly visible from Loop 1604.  Executive offices on the third-floor wrap around a mezzanine. Other highlights include: a light-color façade with dark bronze window mullions, and interior butt-glazed glass for all offices and conference rooms.

“It was always our plan to own our own building, and as we approach our 40th anniversary in business, and our lease was expiring it felt like the right time to strike,” said A. David Lynd, who assumed the role as CEO earlier this year. “We are developing something special that fits our brand and personality.”

Lynd said the new corporate office will encompass the newest management technologies at every turn.

“We’ll not only have multiple rooms tailored for impromptu brain-storming and break-out sessions, the building will have cutting-edge technology so that our real-time performance metrics at the property level are visible at all times,” said Lynd.  “It’s a big part of our culture to always understand how each employee and asset are performing relative to their market areas, and compared to their peers as well.”

The new headquarters will have one very patriotic feature: a 1,200 square-foot military museum on the ground floor which will be open to the public. It will display artifacts and memorabilia from the Vietnam War, where company founder and chairman emeritus, Michael Lynd Sr., served as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army.

“My military experience meant a great deal to me and played an important role in helping shape our business practices and culture,” said Lynd Sr., who started The Lynd Company in 1980 with just a handful of apartment units under management. “I would like for my legacy to be the work I do now serving those who served our country and paying homage to their contributions and sacrifices.”

In addition to the museum, Lynd will host periodic, free lunches for veterans on a rooftop terrace that provides panoramic views of the Hill Country. The company is also working closely with Invest in America’s Veterans Foundation to provide safe and affordable housing for former members of the military. Invest in America’s Veterans Foundation will sublease the museum area on the ground floor.

Lynd hired RVK as architect and interior designer, and Metro as general contractor, both based in San Antonio. The Bank of San Antonio provided financing.

The office building will be located at 4280 N. Loop 1604 W. Shavano Park, TX  78231. The company expects to move in next summer.
