Apartment Investment and Management Firm Peak Capital Partners Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary

PROVO, UT - Peak Capital Partners, a Utah-based apartment investment and management company, recently celebrated its 10th anniversary. Jeff Danley, Jamie Dunn, and Jeff Burningham founded the private equity firm.

The company was formed at the beginning of the Great Recession to take advantage of good buying opportunities in the commercial real estate market. Today it employs more than 600 people and has acquired a more than $2 billion asset portfolio that includes nearly 20,000 apartment units across the United States. Peak is on track to become one of the top 50 apartment owners in the country during 2017 based on its current acquisition pace.

The low homeownership rate and relative lack of affordable housing options has been a growth driver for Peak. “We are committed to providing quality, affordable housing for American families,” Danley said. “In 2016, we added nearly 30 apartment communities, affordable and market rate, with more than 5,700 units. We expect to match last year’s growth this year.”

Peak’s three founding partners have also launched two other companies: Peak Living, a national apartment management company; and Peak Ventures, a seed-stage venture capital firm which deployed a $23 million venture capital fund targeting Utah entrepreneurs in 2015 and 2016, and is currently raising a much larger Fund II.

Peak has received numerous national awards for growth. Inc. magazine ranked Peak one of America’s fastest growing private companies for three years in a row. In addition, Mountain West Capital Network consistently has named Peak one of Utah’s Top 10 fastest growing companies, ranking as high at No. 2 in 2015 and No. 6 in 2014 and 2016. Twice, the firm has been named as one of Utah's Fast 50 growing companies by Utah Business magazine.
