Argo Real Estate Joins Key Sponsors of New Taste of Upper West Side for Seventh Consecutive Year

NEW YORK, NY - On June third and fourth, Manhattan’s Upper West Side will be bustling with delectable tastes straight from the kitchens of the neighborhood’s prolific chefs. New Taste of the Upper West Side is an annual celebration of food that directly benefits the Columbus Avenue Business Improvement District (BID), a non-profit 501c3 organization and one of New York City’s official business districts which spans from 67th to 82nd Streets. Now in its ninth year, the event has benefitted since 2009 from key sponsorships from Argo Real Estate, a top independent real estate owner, property management company and brokerage firm. This year, Argo has again pledged to be a Silver Sponsor of the event.

Argo Real Estate has served the greater New York City community for more than 60 years, owning and managing 5,500 units, with an additional 6,500 units managed by Argo on behalf of condominium and cooperatives.  The Upper West Side has long been an important area for Argo through its strong market presence there. The firm currently manages 27 buildings on the Upper West Side, with a total of 1,642 units in the neighborhood. All net proceeds from New Taste are dedicated to neighborhood projects.

Barbara Adler, the Executive Director of the Columbus Avenue BID since its inception 17 years ago, said, “We’re honored that Argo has supported us over the last several years. We appreciate their enthusiasm and their fabulous sponsorship items which are essential to our 1,500 attendees and 45 participating restaurants.”

In the past, Argo has supplied important items such as lanyards for wine tasting cups and wine glasses. This year, as in last year, Argo is sponsoring the millions of napkins that all festival goers and servers will have at their fingertips.

“We care about the health of New York City’s neighborhoods, and take direct action to have a positive impact wherever we can,” said Argo Vice President Marina Higgins. “The Upper West Side has an incredible span of shops, museums, restaurants and culture that make it especially desirable to residents and visitors of the area.”

“This is the only fundraiser the Columbus Avenue BID does a year, and every penny raised goes back to the community,” said Adler. “Our beautification programs enable the planting of flowers and trees and the installation of benches. We provide initiatives to support wellness in the schools and were a major supporter of the Roosevelt Park Theater.”

The Columbus Avenue BID has also engaged in the placement of future forward technology, including solar powered trash bins. Adler said, “We decided long ago that our organization would focus upon sustainable and green projects.”
